Our Teen Directions program helps young people with high support needs to negotiate the teenage years, which can be a daunting time. There are many things at play which means it’s now more complicated than ever before – things like:
- developing a sense of self
- making new friends
- working in small groups, and
- community inclusion activities such as ‘going for a coffee or a slice of pizza’
That’s why our Teen Directions program helps teenagers transitioning into the critical teenage years, to develop the skills and capacity for social inclusion and independence within a safe environment.
Whether it’s cooking, small group interactions to encourage turn taking and group work, craft and science experiments as well as other fun local activities, the idea is to break down barriers and encourage young people to interact, foster friendships and gain confidence.
