Targeted Skills Groups

We run a range of targets skills groups throughout the year. Each Targeted skills group is focused on specific outcomes that are and focus on building social skills while delivering therapies in a real life social setting. The programs are led by our qualified therapists who specialise in the targeted skill being focused on with the group.

The Targeted Skills Groups were created to provide affordable intensive weekly therapies designed to deliver outcomes for participants while targeting the individual’s needs.

Gross Motor Skills Group

Our Gross Motor Skills Group is designed for pre-school children aged 3-5 years old to improve their gross motor function. Children will learn and practise their ability to kick, climb, crawl, jump, balance and other relevant skills important for participation in community activities, kindergarten and school.

Led by one of our Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, these groups will be run for 1.5 hours on a weekly basis over an 8 week period, including a 1.5 hour parent overview where parents are encouraged to attend and learn ways to apply these skills at home.

A variety of skills will be targeted during group time:
• Balance
• Coordination
• Core Strengthening
• Postural Endurance
• Motor Planning

Activities and lessons will be developed and implemented by our Therapists. Individual goals will also be targeted.

This program will be run 9.30am – 11am on Thursdays at our Salisbury site and Tuesdays at our Melrose Park site.

Early Language Skills Group

Our Early Language Group is a social communication group assisting children to develop their language and build their social skills. Parents are encouraged to come along and learn ways to apply these skills at home. Led by Speech Pathologists, these groups are targeted at children aged 2-6 years old and run for 1.5 hours on a weekly basis over an 8 week period.

A variety of skills will be targeted during group time:
• Attention and listening
• Social skills
• Using language to communicate
• Vocabulary
• Following instructions
• Answering questions

Activities and lessons will be developed and implemented by our Speech Pathologists. Individual goals will also be targeted.

This program will be run 9.30am – 11am on Wednesdays at our Melrose Park site and Fridays at our Salisbury site.
