High School Transition Program
Designed especially for children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Intellectual Disability (ID) who are starting high school in 2018, the High School Transition Program has been developed by a specialist team including Psychologists, Behavioural Therapists, Parents and Teens at Inclusive Directions and in association with our friends at The Growing Space. The Program was built to support children and families during these big changes, and make the move to high school more successful. The High School Transition Program is covered under NDIS or parents / carers can chose to pay should they wish. Inclusive Directions is a registered NDIS provider.
Sessions in the program include:
– Pre-program sessions for parents and carers sharing vital information and support strategies for your child’s move to High School. These sessions will also include guest speakers from other organisations, parents and teens who have “been there, done that” and Q&A time with our team of Senior Therapists. Two parent workshops are offered at Inclusive Directions Flinders Therapy House. 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday 22nd and Wednesday 29th of November 2017. These sessions will be covering different information regarding transition, so it is preferable that families and carers attend both. There will be activities for their children if you would like to bring them along.
– A two week High School Transition program run in January School Holidays from Monday 8th until Friday the 19th of January 2018 from 9am – 1pm Monday-Friday at Inclusive Directions St Marys. This includes 1:1 time with Senior Behavioural Therapists and a high level of support during community access outings, including specific school orientation if required.
Please fill out the form below to find out more about the program and to book for this years intake. We look forward to working with you and your child to make sure their transition into high school is as smooth as possible.
