Child Protection

Child Safe Environments

This seven-hour workshop is conducted by registered trainers and is designed to provide educators and other professionals with relevant information on Child Protection and mandated notification.

Any person working with children in South Australia is a mandated notifier and has moral, as well as legal obligations under Section 11 of the Children’s Protection Act 1993.

The workshop will cover the regulatory requirements and legislative information pertinent to service policy and practice.

Participants will be encouraged to explore their own values, attitudes and beliefs about child abuse as well as building on their existing knowledge and skill base in responding to children experiencing abuse and/or neglect.

Each participant will receive a statement of attendance.

Anticipated outcomes:

  • a greater understanding of personal and community values, attitudes and beliefs and how they impact on behaviour and practices,
  • understanding of the legal and moral obligations to report suspected child abuse, and
  • understanding of the Mandated Reporting Process.
